The universal plotting sheet is how navigators make a chart for anywhere: label the parallels with your latitudes, erect the meridians for your mid-latitude, and the sheet becomes a correct Mercator plot of your patch of ocean. Free letter-size versions exist all over the internet; what they cannot give you is room. At A3 landscape the rose is 210 mm across and the sheet holds a proper watch of passage plotting or a full round of star sights without re-plotting.
The instructed edition teaches the sheet as you use it: five set-up steps, the chord method drawn out, and why the geometry works. The clean edition is the one you laminate for the chart table. Print as many of either as you need.
